Hat Attack II: Purple People Eater

My third weapon arrived in Tuesday’s mail, but I didn’t have time to work on it until this weekend.  I was a little concerned because the yarn wasn’t the specified weapons-grade ammunition, but I still got gauge on size 3s.

I cast on on Friday, and finished weaving in the ends about 30 minutes ago.  Part of the delay was not wanting to sit with my laptop reading the pattern PDF as I knit. It’s a pain. Fortunately, I discovered a free ereader application for the iPhone.  Stanza can read most common ebook formats, plus PDF files, and can transfer the files to your mobile device over a wireless network.  This means I now have the pattern on my phone (along with a row counter), and I don’t need to worry about paper patterns (losing pages, forgetting the pattern while traveling, etc) anymore.

So, the Purple People Eater is ready to head to Washington on Tuesday. I’ve gotten word that it will likely be my last kill, however, as my assassin thrice removed has finally received the weapon intended for me. She’s taken great glee in taunting me:

Dispatch, October 10:

Your death hat is on its way to my house. My target was a little delayed in getting it to the PO, but she assures me it’s been mailed. Be afraid. ;)

Dispatch, October 11:

It’s here & it’s pretty! She didn’t use Therapi, it’s a gorgeous alpaca/silk in fucshia & eggplant. Oh don’t worry, you’ll see it soon.

It sure took the slow boat getting here: Left TN 9/26, left AK 10/8, arrived WA 10/11.

Can you hear the click, click, click of your doom? ;D

No word yet if it’s completed, but it won’t get in the mail before Tuesday, either. So another Washington knitter will meet an untimely end.
